Frequently asked questions.

WHERE DO YOU SOURCE YOUR MERCHANDISE?

Thrift shops on and around Vancouver Island, as well as yard & estate sales.

IS EVERYTHING REALLY HANDMADE?

Yes — to the best of our knowledge, everything we curate is a handmade, one-off item. Most certainly made by a woman, probably for someone she loved very much. It is our honour (and yours too, we hope) to dignify these works of art and craft with a second life.

WHAT IS REFLECTED IN THE PRICING?

Thrifting is environmentally responsible and therapeutic—not to mention fun. We encourage you to try it! That said, cruising secondhand stores is not everyone’s idea of fun.

But buying secondhand goods not only redirects consumption into the circular economy, it also makes handmade items accessible to more people (not everyone can afford to buy a brand new handmade quilt, for example).

Here are the factors we consider when setting our prices:

  • Time spent hunting for LB-worthy treasures out in the wild

  • Time & materials for repairing/refreshing/repurposing items

  • Website hosting and e-commerce fees

  • Margin for profit, which will be directed to organizations making an impact (more to come on this soon)

  • A philosophical & ethical adjustment back towards pricing that reflects the true value and work of “slow items”

WHAT IS YOUR RETURN POLICY?

At this time, we accept returns from local customers only. That said, if your product arrives damaged due to an accident during shipping, we will issue a store credit for 100% of the purchase price. If this has happened to you, please contact us.
